Mother-to-be
oil on canvas, 18″ x 24″, 2018
This painting portrays a woman at home, seated with her two dogs close by. In a short span of time, her life has held profound change, beginning again in a new city, enduring deep loss, and stepping into motherhood soon after. The room carries that history quietly, without emphasis, through presence alone. She appears grounded and attentive, surrounded by familiar objects and steady companionship. Sunflowers rest on the coffee table, freshly brought into the space, adding a note of warmth. Painted from life, the work captures a moment rich with lived experience, where strength, tenderness, and continuity exist side by side. This piece has been exhibited in two juried shows in Phoenix and New York City. In New York City, the artist received her first award.
